Madrid

During my time in Madrid, I lived in Atocha. Everyday leaving my house, I would walk past the modern art museum, Museo Reina Sofia. I went more than once to visit Picasso’s famous work, Guernica.

On my way to and from Estudio Sampere—my Spanish language school—I walked through Retiro, my favorite park.

I found any and every reason to walk through Plaza Mayor. It’s buzzing with activity! It’s the heartbeat of the city.

Right off of Plaza Mayor is the Mercado de San Miguel—a ritzy throwback to the old European-style markets. I came here weekly for to get my macaroon fix!

If you visit Spain, be sure to catch a Flamenco show. Also, taste their famous ham!
