If you’re visiting Machu Picchu, you can either take a daytrip from Cusco using PeruRail or you can overnight in Aguas Calientes. I chose an overnight at Machupicchu Eco Inn so that I could enjoy Machu Picchu at dawn.
As you can imagine, Aguas Calientes is a touristy town with plenty of souvenirs to buy at Mercado Artesenal. I felt confident buying a few items from Munay when the vendor used a lighter to prove the Alpaca fiber wasn’t synthetic.
Even though the path leading to Baños Termales (Thermal Baths, the city’s main attraction) is all uphill, it’s worth the hike!
