Paris

August 16, 2014 by gokimdo

People may talk about the loveliness of Paris in spring, but I can attest: it’s wonderful in summer. I decided to go for an evening stroll, starting at the Louvre Museum. The museum campus is adjacent to Jardin des Tuileries, a park I often visit in my daydreams. I’m convinced that the French have mastered the “art of lounging”—such effortless and sophisticated relaxation. They look as if they don’t have a care in the world! I’d like a life lesson in that, please. Leaving the park, I […]

Interlaken

December 23, 2011 by gokimdo

Crossing the Aare River in Interlaken, Switzerland It’s rare that I have a holiday alone…but this particular Christmas, I decided to spend nine hours rotating between the pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna and women’s lounge at Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa. It was one of the most peaceful and relaxing holidays I’ve ever had!

San Antonio

December 2, 2010 by gokimdo

Kent and Diana gave me an amazing city tour on my first visit to San Antonio. Market Square is full of eye-popping color! We toured three former Spanish Catholic Missions—Mission Concepción, Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo, and Mission San Francisco de la Espada. The atmospheres here are incredibly romantic! Our stroll along the San Antonio Riverwalk led us all the way to HemisFair Park. We then went to the Rivercenter Mall for an outdoor holiday music concert. The Riverwalk was […]

Hanoi

April 21, 2008 by gokimdo

I was excited to visit Vietnam since it’s the city where my father was born. I was captivated by watching daily life unfold… The scenes were stunning! Getting caught in morning traffic wasn’t any fun at all… But I loved seeing so many cyclists! I was really impressed with what local businesses do to care for those less fortunate. Two places I visited were Koto (Know One – Teach One) who help underprivileged youth and Craft Link where they sell handmade crafts […]

Salzburg

March 25, 2005 by gokimdo

From Zell am See, I took a train to visit Salzburg for the day. The Historic Centre of Salzburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the city’s biggest attractions is visiting the “The Sound of Music” film locations, such as Mirabell Gardens at Mirabell Palace, officially known as Salzburger Schloss Konzerte. Wandering around, I discovered a trail which gave me a lovely view of the city from above. During the rest of the day, I admired the architecture, shopped and […]
